Comprehensive Backup & Restore Solution for Servebolt
under review

As a Servebolt customer, I need a comprehensive, secure, and easily accessible backup and restore solution that allows me to manage backups at both a centralized and environment-specific level. This solution should enhance my ability to safeguard data, ensure business continuity, and comply with regulatory standards.
Details:
I require a user interface within the Servebolt Control Panel that is intuitive and responsive. This interface should clearly list all available backups, detailing their types (file or database), sizes, and timestamps. It is essential that I can search for specific backups and have a clear visual indication of storage usage and backup frequency to efficiently manage my data protection activities.
The ability to perform on-demand backups is crucial. I need the flexibility to initiate backups manually at any time, choosing between full system backups or selective backups of specific files or databases. This process should be streamlined, with minimal impact on the performance of my active environments, and I should receive immediate and clear feedback on the progress and completion of these backups.
For data management and security purposes, downloading backups should be straightforward and secure. I need the option to securely download backup files and databases, ensuring that all data transfers are encrypted. Both batch and individual downloads should be available, allowing me to manage how and where my data is stored externally.
Restoration capabilities are just as important as backup functionalities. I need robust tools that allow for quick and reliable restoration from backups, with the option to conduct test restorations in a sandbox environment to verify data integrity before full deployment. Detailed logs and reports should be available to support auditing and troubleshooting processes.
Security and Compliance: The entire backup and restore process must comply with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations. Strong encryption methods for data storage and transfer are expected, along with regular security audits to adapt to new threats.
User Access and Permissions: It is vital that access controls and permissions are strictly managed. Only authorized personnel should have the capability to handle backups, downloads, or restorations. Multi-factor authentication should be implemented to secure access to the backup management tools.
Outcome: By implementing this backup and restore solution, I expect to enhance my data protection capabilities, ensuring that my operations are resilient against data loss and downtime, thereby reinforcing trust and reliability in Servebolt’s services.

+1 for this. Much needed. Right now, we have to ask the support to restore the backup. (The support is great!)

Thank you for posting, Alexandre Kalatzis! I have a few more questions for you:
- Could you please specify the frequency of backups you would like to have as a part of this feature?
- Would you like to have an option to schedule backups or just manual triggering?
- What specific data are you looking to backup and restore with this feature?

- One backup per day, preferably at night, would be sufficient for most cases.
- An automated schedule would be ideal, with the option for manual triggering as a bonus for specific situations.
- The full database and the site directory are the two most critical areas to cover.
